The Homestead Grays were a vintage Negro leagues team formed in 2001 by the Hartford Board of Education. They competed in The Hartford Vintage Base Ball Invitational from 2001-2005.
The team, comprised of an inspiring mix of students, faculty, alumni and administrators, was coached by Kijuan Ware, who was known to use math problems concocted from Negro league statistics in his classes at Weaver High School.
