Pleasant View Gardens is on the forefront of cutting edge innovations in floriculture products. Our Research & Development department works closely with Proven Winners® and elite plant breeders to develop, trial, and select, the highest quality annual, perennial, and edible plants for our market. During the spring and summer seasons, R&D focuses on many tasks, including making plant selections and running numerous production trials, to identify the best products and growing practices. The seasonal crew member is focused on executing day-to-day plant production tasks and record keeping within R&D while working closely with departmental and interdepartmental staff, when needed. This is a seasonal position with opportunities for extension.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Upon training - perform plant production related tasks: plant identification, labeling, cutting, sticking, seeding, potting, plant maintenance, moving, shipping, dumping
• Some weekend watering shifts will be required during part of the spring and late summer
• Sample collection for virus testing when/where applicable
• Photo-documentation of trial material when/where applicable· Update work reports and related paperwork during and upon completion of daily tasks
• Communicate clearly with R&D coordinators regarding task details and deadlines

• Maintain greenhouse sanitation and cleanliness

Field and Display Garden Tasks

• In the summer months, some of the above crew member duties will continue outdoors in our trial field and display gardens.
• Additional tasks include bed prep, planting, potting, weeding, and irrigation set-up and maintenance.

Required skills and abilities:

• Must be able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Some knowledge and experience with horticulture/agriculture preferred
• Excellent skills in organization and communication, detail oriented
• Demonstrated ability to be punctual and prepared to work
• Ability to be certified on heavy equipment including forklifts and tractors

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Non Tobacco use required

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: From $13.50 per hour
