DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the academic division of the university dedicated to workforce and career development. CPE helps professional working adults upskill, reskill and advance their careers. CPE partners with campus schools, colleges and faculty to create global access to the distinctive knowledge and resources of UC Davis, and also works with employers and local experts to develop programs targeted to regional needs for economic development. More than 1,500 professionals teach in a wide array of specialized practice domains, including outstanding faculty from across UC Davis. Last year, CPE recorded nearly 74,000 enrollments in more than 4,400 classes, serving students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. Courses are offered onsite and online in a variety of formats, including short courses, conferences, certificate programs and self-supporting master’s degrees. Courses are open to the public and offered on a contract basis through partnerships with private companies, government agencies and international peer universities. CPE also manages the university’s relationship with Coursera, a leading MOOC platform, and has generated more than a million enrollments through this partnership. CPE is completely self-supporting, generating more than $40 million in annual revenue from course fees, public and private contracts and grants. CPE employs approximately 180 employees (career, academic, contract and limited) and more than 60 student employees during peak periods, and draws on the expertise of approximately 1,700 instructors.


JOB SUMMARY

Develops and implements digital-centric and data-informed Annual Marketing Plans that accelerate lead generation and drive $1 million+ in annual student enrollments. Independently researches and analyzes data from multiple sources to establish program marketing goals; develop program-specific audience profiles, marketing and distribution strategies, and key messaging; and inform tactical recommendations. Establishes ongoing testing to optimize performance. Responsible for marketing strategy across all phases of the program lifecycle, from launch to maintenance to sunset.

This position is responsible for all aspects of client management for programs within their portfolio, including writing and implementing strategic marketing plans and presenting them to stakeholders; tracking program inquiries and enrollments and recalibrating strategies and tactics to achieve targets; managing marketing budgets; researching and recommending innovative marketing solutions; and reporting on the results of marketing initiatives.

Uses program knowledge, expertise in digital marketing and independent judgement to optimize the performance of campaigns for ROI, conversion rates and other key performance indicators. Uses marketing technology and automation to create persuasive, personalized marketing strategies that drive inquiries, enrollments and retention.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • 5+ years of experience developing, implementing, evaluating and adapting digital-centric marketing plans to effectively reach diverse audiences and move them through the marketing funnel, from inquiry through enrollment. Experience using a variety of research methods, such as secondary research, key informant interviews, etc. to identify target audiences and industry trends to inform marketing plans and strategic recommendations. Significant experience using marketing technology and analytics tools such as CRMs, Google Analytics, digital marketing platforms, etc. to evaluate the ROI of marketing investments. Experience creating and managing marketing budgets that achieve established enrollment/revenue targets. Experience conceptualizing and presenting marketing reports, plans and recommendations

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Advanced skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data and presenting actionable recommendations based on that analysis
  • Demonstrated use of project management, independent problem-solving and organizational skills to effectively monitor and manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines and tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions based on established organizational goals, policies and sound judgment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to develop collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues, vendors and other partners

Preferred:

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Experience using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud
  • Experience working in higher education, ideally in a continuing and professional education environment or with non-traditional adult students
  • Experience developing, tracking and evaluating digital advertising campaigns on multiple platforms
