Job Description :

The Charter Township of Grand Blanc is a growing, highly sought community, with excellent municipal services in support of our resident’s needs and requests. Our municipality is currently looking to fill the position of GIS Analyst within the Department of Public Services. The main responsibility for the GIS Analyst is to provide GIS, application and programming assistance primarily to the Public Works Department, but also to other Township Departments as needed.

Successful Candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, surveying or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, surveys, and maps
  • Knowledge of the latest principles, practices, and techniques of GIS. Ability to produce professional, high quality, GIS-based cartographic products. Demonstrated experience with ESRI ArcGIS software with practical working knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with ESRI based applications such as Trimble / Cityworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with report generation such as Crystal Reports.
  • Familiarity with Python programming.
  • Familiarity with Dig-Smart Fusion
  • Familiarity with Pipelogix CCTV Pipeline Inspection Reporting Software

III. DUTIES

  • Input, update, and maintain GIS data in an ArcGIS Desktop/ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Online environment
  • Analyze spatial data to produce maps and reports
  • Operates Trimble GPS equipment and conducts field work as required.
  • Maintains, updates, and supports the Township’s enterprise asset management system and computerized maintenance management system (Cityworks)
  • Maintains, updates, and supports the Townships DigSmart Utility Staking software.
  • Performing spatial analyses and creating information products from the GIS and related software and subsystems for use in various departments.
  • Designing, developing, testing, documenting, and certifying applications, programs and systems functionality.
  • Managing individual data and applications development projects.
  • Providing support for GIS data conversion, systems integration and system and application’s development and implementation.
  • Designing and implementing training plans.
  • Assisting in training in various aspects of the GIS software and database creation and use.
  • Diagnosing and “troubleshooting” problems experienced with the use of GIS and related software.
  • Consulting users to identify new data/software requirements.
  • Supporting users.
  • Preparing project plans, and directing vendors (consultants) and internal project teams to accomplish plan tasks in order to meet user/ data/software requirements.
  • Any other GIS related duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,102.00 - $63,782.00 per year
