Job Description :

v With the assistance of the Feed Manager feed rations to be fed to ewes in each phase of production.

v Assist in tours at the SDC.

v Adjusting rations based off the amount on feed bunks, while taking in consideration of wasted feed and time of reproduction.

v Envision and share ideas that can improve processes.

v Ensure feed is delivered timely and on schedule.

v Monitors quality control of commodities received through regular inspection.

v Assists in maintaining appropriate feed records.

v Sets a positive example for other employees by modeling safe work practices and following safety rules and policies.

v Communicates critical information about feed stuffs that arrive on site (ex: billing slips, inventory weights, etc.)

v Assists in taking inventory of feed stuffs.

v Developing a maintenance schedule and checklist to keep feed kitchen and equipment clean and in working order.

v Broad knowledge of and operation of various types of tractors such as: Bobcat Skid Steer, IT-14 loader, various John Deere, Massey Ferguson and Case wheel type tractors, Laird wagon, plus an assortment of tractor implements.

v Maintaining the facility including sweeping, mowing, regular maintenance checks on equipment.

v Basic knowledge of sheep health and informing a superior.

v Willingness to conduct feed trails and studies.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

v High School degree or higher; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

v Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software.

v Valid driver’s license.

v Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

v Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

v Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

v Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

v Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

v Willingness to think outside the box and challenge the norms.

COMPETENCY:

v Adapts to changes in the work environment, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, observe safety and security procedures, and report potentially unsafe conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

v Regularly exposed to airborne particles. May be assigned to duties that require the use of a respirator. Pulmonary function test and respirator fit test would apply.

v Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

v Frequently required to climb or balance and is exposed to work in high, precarious places.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

v Employees may be required to wear hardhat; eyes, ears, and respiratory protection daily. And other misc PPE requirements for your job.

v Lifting, carrying, push/pull, pinch/grip, reaching overhead and away from the body, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, squat and climbing are essential to this job.
