DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Position Overview:

The Director of Marketing – In a fast-paced small business environment, the Director of Marketing determines strategy and tactics for all aspects of the company’s marketing. Working with the management team of the company, this role plays a key part in setting strategic direction for the overall business. This position will lead brand building, public relations, content creation, events, social media, and all other customer acquisition activities. The Director of Marketing plans yearly budgets to support marketing efforts and monitor spending. Managing an internal team and leveraging multiple external agencies and contractors, this position develops all marketing materials and creative.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop yearly, quarterly, and monthly marketing plans
• Develop and monitor a yearly budget for the marketing team
• Oversee marketing department staff including creative and social
• Manage external vendors and agencies to align with and amplify internal marketing
• Conceive and implement new campaigns and tactics to boost and build brand awareness
• Work with strategic partners within the industry for collaborations
• Maintain relationships with licensors and seek new partnerships within the tech, gaming, fashion, and pop culture sectors
• Ensure all marketing activities remain consistent with GUNNAR brand identity
• Research and stay current with product and marketing trends
• Develop and maintain a set of marketing KPIs to judge effectiveness of campaigns and overall marketing efficacy
• Work with product team to ensure proper product launch timelines including pre-release marketing activities

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field required
• 10+ years of experience in marketing.
• Demonstrated experience in all marketing fields including market research, psychographic profile creation, messaging creation and testing, omnichannel marketing, social media management, ambassador and influencer marketing, licensing, event management, internet advertising (and associated techniques like PPC, IP targeting, retargeting, display and native advertising, etc.), SEO, search marketing/AdWords.
• Deep experience in consumer goods industries is required. Preference toward fashion, apparel, eyewear, or consumer electronics and tech. Ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of the video gaming industry.
• Strong commercial orientation with ability to stretch budget and magnify spend.
• Experience with social media platforms, current and emerging, required.
• Strong entrepreneurial skills and experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Managerial expertise and the ability to get the most out of a dedicated team.
• Ability to create departmental structure and implement well documented work flows, yet maintain a creative environment that generates free-form thinking.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to interact with a highly educated audience.
• High comfort level with technology and various digital marketing channels.
• Skilled at managing consumer testimonials and feedback – both positive and negative.
• Self-starter with a positive mind-set that works well in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
• High output “doer” mentality with the ability to roll up sleeves and get things done.
