About the role:

As a Digital Scientist on the Cell Therapy Pharmaceutical Sciences team, you will assist the Cell Therapies automation team in implementing novel ideas and advancing digital projects in bioprocess automation, predictive model and control, Digital Twin, data integration, and analytics. You will help develop mathematical and ML models for cell therapy process development. You will develop mathematical models, identify relevant data, and grasp insights from the data. You will also ensure methodology and reproducibility of deliverables through reports, technology transfer documentation and regulatory documents and will present study results at team or department meetings, to external partners or at conferences.

How you will contribute:

• Develop mathematical models to simulate and predict the behavior of cells in various therapeutic contexts using a variety of mathematical and computational techniques, such as differential equations, machine learning, reinforcement learning
• Collaborate internally to validate models by comparing predicted and experimental data. This involves design of experiment, data collection, data analyzes for model validation.
• Collaborate with other researchers in the cell therapy lab to understand their needs and develop relevant models for ongoing research.
• Develop software tools that can be used to implement and run the mathematical models. This would involve using programming languages such as Python, R or Matlab.
• Write and present research papers and reports that explain complex mathematical concepts to both technical and non-technical audience.
• Handle, analyze, and visualize large datasets important for the development, validation and usage of mathematical models.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• PhD in Data Science, STEM or related pharmaceutical science or related pharmaceutical science; 0+ years relevant industry experience OR Masters degree in Data Science, STEM or related pharmaceutical science or related pharmaceutical science; 6+ years relevant industry experience OR Bachelors degree in Data Science, STEM or related pharmaceutical science or related pharmaceutical science and 8+ years relevant industry experience
• Experience in the use and development of mathematical, both statistical and first principle, models and advanced process control systems.
• Experience with different ML algorithms and deep learning framework such as TensorFlow or Keras
• Proficiency in Bayesian statistics
• Experience in a range of Automation Technologies and Platforms and Pharma 4.0 digital models and systems.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary clinical projects and teams
• Technical and strategic leadership and accomplishments
• Experience in CAR-T, immunology, immune-oncology or vaccines beneficial
• Scientific track record through presentations at scientific conferences and publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts.
• Respective programming knowledge in Python/R/Matlab/C is required. Further programming experience is advantageous.
• Hands-on experience with libraries and packages to run complete Data Science process (like pandas, scikit-learn, tensorflow, keras, pymc, matplotlib, etc.)
• Statistical analysis, differential equations, stochastic modeling, sampling methods
• Biotech/pharma experience and dealing with pre-clinical, manufacturing, and clinical data are a huge plus
• Proficient technically in types of data, databases, data wrangling, data processes, and data architecture

Base Salary Range: $ 102,200-$146,000, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short-term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
