Conservation Labs is a team of mathematicians and engineers with a mission to improve the planet for future generations. Our first product, H2know, addresses a $100 billion problem by enabling cost effective and sustainable water use. We invented and patented a way to classify and quantify any sound with a simple microphone and machine learning. Water is our first use case.

For water, our non-invasive IoT sensor fits over a pipe to measure and classify usage every second. H2know helps reduce water use by providing comprehensive water insights and custom conservation recommendations; it provides peace of mind by identifying the risk factors that lead to leaks as well as alerting the user of catastrophic leaks.

Our proprietary machine learning technology is being applied in new use cases. We can accurately assess and predict failure in machines and equipment down to the sub-system. Our first customer, an OEM, will deploy in over one million machines; we are doing this with the same low cost AI-enabled microphone. Conservation Labs technology will extend the life of machines, reduce truck rolls, and increase machine efficiency.

We are looking for an extraordinary data scientist who is up to the challenge of creating new approaches and techniques to solve our customer’s complex predictive maintenance challenges.

Job Description

Below are specific responsibilities you will have in this role:

• Provide statistical expertise and rigor to advanced machine learning projects
• Develop, test, and deploy machine learning models for quantification and classification with a focus on continued improvement
• Support algorithm improvements for event detection and classification models
• Deploy and test your code in operational systems working closely with the MLOps (machine learning operations) engineers

But always ready to help. We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

• U.S. based, 100% remote position
• U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status required
• Independent/self-guided, and comfortable working on a fully remote and interdisciplinary team; flexibility with hours is important as most team members are on Eastern Time or Central Time
• A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, data analysis, or data science
• 2-3 years of experience or some amazing projects and good stories
• Comfortable working with big data and big data algorithms
• Experience with R, Python, and SQL
• Experience with TensorFlow, SageMaker, or other modern machine learning platforms
• Experience with complex data analysis, such as regression, clustering, and segmentation
• Experience in predictive modeling
• Experience in working in the AWS environment is a plus
• Experience with spreadsheets (e.g. Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets) to present analysis summaries
• Play nicely with software engineers. You need to create repeatable and scalable code and then work well with others to get it deployed, tested, and into production.

How will you know if you’re successful?

• You will reduce risk and accelerate the development and deployment of machine learning projects.
• The Conservation Labs platform will customize and configure algorithms with new data quickly with accurate results, with no manual intervention.
• Adoption and usage of the system will be high, our customers will be happy, and they will tell their friends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
