Summary
The Research Cyberinfrastructure team at JAX is seeking a Cyberinfrastructure Intern with basic Linux and programming experience to work as part of a team working to enhance research systems through design, development, maintenance and documentation. Over the course of 8-10 weeks, the intern will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of research cyberinfrastructure systems, obtain experience in software development, cloud computing, and high-performance computing, gain experience providing software solutions to world-class researchers, and work as a member of a researcher-focused information technology team. Prior experience with Linux and python is highly desired. Ability to work a hybrid schedule on our Farmington, Connecticut Campus is preferred.

The ideal start date for this position is June 5, 2023.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work with an agile team on software enhancements, documentation, and development.
  • Assist the Cyberinfrastructure team with educational outreach and training material.
  • If present on-site, assist with the data center cyberinfrastructure such as equipment installs and maintenance.
Desired Qualifications
JAX encourages applications from a diverse mix of educational backgrounds and experiences. Preferred qualifications include:
  • Must be enrolled in a university or college program
  • Pursuing a degree in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology program with a strong programming component
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding/experience with the Linux operating system
  • Prior experience with Python
