Deep Well Services is looking for an Automation Engineer to join our growing Engineering & Analytics Team. As an Automation Engineer, you will be aiding in the design and commissioning of Automated Data Acquisition Systems deployed in Oil & Gas Environments. You can expect to have daily communication with Electrical, Software, Petroleum & Data Engineers as well as work with Electrical Technicians, Electricians, IT professionals, and Mechanics.

Duties

Participate in the design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and evaluation of automated electrical systems.

Conduct preliminary and final design reviews.

Create schematics, flow charts, and network diagrams.

Analyze and troubleshoot challenges to appropriately recommend continuous improvement strategies and solutions.

Provide technical expertise in support of capital projects, process evaluation, and project modifications.

Assure process documentation is regularly developed and maintained.

Assist with the coordination of electrical hardware tests to verify system operation during FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests).

Generate Bills of Material.

Provide occasional remote or on-site support when requested by Electronics Technicians Team.

Stay informed about industry trends, competitive, active, and associated technology .

Ensures a safe work environment and promotes a safety culture.

Position Details

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Status: Full-time

Amount of Travel Required: 5-10% of time

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Direct Reports: none

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with occasional on-call availability on nights and weekends due to the 24 hr nature of the O&G service industry.

Position Qualifications

Familiarity with Engineering Design Process.

Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, and process/multi-meters.

Knowledge of IEEE 802.11 Ethernet communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, Wifi, & MQTT.

Drafting abilities using Solidworks Electrical or AutoCAD.

Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC), UL 508 and UL 121201 Standards.

Initiative Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.

Communication Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, clearly and concisely.

Teamwork Promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and deliverables.

Working Under Pressure Ability to complete assigned tasks in stressful situations.

Skills & Abilities

Required Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Mechatronics or similar Engineering/Technology field.

Required Experience: At least 3+ years of experience in Automation, Controls Systems, or similar.

Typical Office Skills Required

Must be able to use MS Office platforms Excel, Outlook & Word.

Capable of working on multiple projects at the same time

Good communication skills, capable of training the end users on the usage and capabilities on product functionality.

Familiarity with Sales Force is a Plus

Other Requirements: Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
