Job Description

As part of your assigned duties, you are expected to follow published rules of VT-SGI and FPS to include:

· control access to specific areas of a facility

· enforce property rules and regulations

· detect and report criminal acts

· stop and if possible, detain persons engaging in criminal activities

· provide security against loss from fire or mechanical equipment failure

· respond to emergency situations involving the safety and security of the facility

· deny and prevent entry to those persons refusing to submit to a voluntary inspection

· be physically able to stand post for 4 hours without relief. Ability to conduct continuous walking patrols

As part of your assigned duties, you may be responsible for:

· operating security equipment such as x-ray machines, magnetometers and closed-circuit television systems

· performing inspections which may include checking backpacks, briefcases, containers or any other suspicious items in the possession of people entering or leaving the facility

· taking actions to control crowds during civil disturbances

General Job Qualifications:

To be eligible to perform duties under this contract, an applicant shall meet the following
general qualifications:

• Be a United States citizen; or a

o Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard) Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which

bears the individuals name and social security number

• Have verifiable documentation of one experience and one education level listed

below:

o Experience

• A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US, and have resigned or retired in good standing; or

• A minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any US Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard) component; or

o Education

• Received, at minimum, either a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution of higher learning, or as identified on DD Form 214. (Note: High School Diplomas from countries outside of the United States must be translated in English and certified by a Notary or an individual who is authorized to notarize documents. The document must be an original copy)
• Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English.
• Must be 21 years of age
• Must be able to demonstrate firearm proficiency (handgun)
• Having previously passed a firearm qualification course through the military, law enforcement agency or security company is preferred (handgun)

• May be required to show proof of previous firearms qualifications (handgun)

• Must be able to pass all state and local requirements to include their handgun qualification course, if applicable, to obtain a required local or state commission
