At Highway Equipment & Supply Co. we are growing and need an industry-experienced candidate to fill a new Territory Sales Representative position based out of Lock Haven, PA.

Job Summary
The Territory Sales Representative, Full Line & Utility/Compact Equipment promotes sales, rental, and field support from the product to customers within an assigned territory (area of prime responsibility or APR), meeting all sales goals, establishing new accounts, and servicing existing accounts.
Essential Functions

1. Promote full line products, including utility/compact sales and rentals to customers within the following APR, which gives exclusive sales rights on utility/compact equipment business placed in this APR. Highway reserves the right to waive the protected APR if the Territory Sales Representative has not contacted a buyer within 90 days prior to the sale
2. The territory would be a full-line territory with the exception of (i.) Designated Key Accounts that would be handled by the Territory Supervisor (to be advised); (ii.) Designated Strategic Accounts as specified by Volvo CE Key Accounts (to be advised); and (iii.) Accounts classified in the Quarry and Mining segment
a. All other sales opportunities would be referred to this position. Targeted segments would include: Excavating, paving, landscaping, masonry, electrical, plumbing, public utility, municipalities (excluding PA Turnpike / Penn DOT), general contractors, miscellaneous/transient customers not classified, assigned customers per the discretion of senior management. Emphasis would be placed on utility / compact customers
3. Meet 100 percent of established revenue and product mix quotas
4. Make 8-to-10 sales calls per day
5. Develop new customers through cold calling by phone and on job sites and business locations, curate leads on new customers through industry news and contacts
6. Develop business plans for each customer and achieving ongoing excellent customer relations
7. Occasionally receive and place phone calls to customers requesting service assistance and coordinating with branch service manager
8. Potential liaison between customer and Highway Service Department to assists customers with first-line response for owned or rented machine issues
9. Work with and coordinate service repairs and/or long-term rental inspections for Highway-owned equipment
10. Coordinate repairs with manufacturer representatives when needed
11. Complete the start-up and walk around process for the Sales Department during new delivery start ups
12. Complete new machine delivery and work with the Warranty Department to facilitate warranty registration
13. Service existing accounts
14. Maintains compliance with the completion of all company-required information and records, such as call reports, market surveys, customer satisfaction reports, and customer machine ownership lists (by make, model, serial number, and hours of use)
15. Maintain a professional and business-like appearance for vehicle and self, including keeping vehicle maintenance up-to-date
16. Must be able to load and unload equipment, when and if necessary
Competencies
1. Proficient with Microsoft systems and applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
2. General computer proficiency
3. Five years heavy-equipment industry knowledge and experience preferred, but not necessary
4. Motivated, passionate, self-starter driven to meet sales goals and deadlines. Flexibility to work non-business hours
5. Personable, polite, and persuasive
6. Professional phone, email, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.
7. Works well in a fast-paced, demanding team environment, with all levels of the company, and with all types of customers
8. Able to work independently with a strict attention to detail, exerts sound judgment, discretion, and preserves confidentiality
9. Must possess a strong desire to respond quickly to customer requests, such as returning phone calls, responding to on-site customer needs
10. Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record
Product Lines
1. Volvo track and wheel skid steer loaders, compact wheel loaders, compact excavators, soil and asphalt compaction, articulated haulers, hydraulic / wheeled excavators, wheel loaders, pavers
2. Doosan air compressors, generators, light plants
3. Utility trailers up to 10 ton
4. SDLG wheel loaders
5. Attachments; NPK hydraulic breakers, compactors, and related products, loose machine attachments, such as buckets, etc., miscellaneous specialized attachments
6. Ingersoll-Rand Power Tools: Upright compactors, walk-behind compactors, air hammers, other IR tools not specified here but contracted to sell
7. Miscellaneous products as allowed by Sales Manager
Required Education and Experience
The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity.
1. High school diploma or GED
2. One-to-two years sales experience
3. Valid Class C (passenger vehicle) driver’s license with a clean driving record
4. Must live within the sales territory (North Central, PA)
Preferred Education and Experience
The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity, but does not disqualify applicants without them from consideration.
1. Four-year college degree or an associate’s degree in heavy construction equipment repair or technology
2. At least three years heavy construction equipment sales experience
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Upon offer of employment, the selected candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test and background and credit check. All offers of employment are contingent upon the outcome of the drug test and the background and credit checks.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
As this is an exempt salaried sales position, the Territory Sales Representative, Full-Line and Utility/Compact Equipment Sales is expected to work at a minimum Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 60-minute unpaid lunch and with willingness to work as needed beyond normal business hours to make sales goals.
Reports To
This position reports to the Director, Sales.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Generally, maintaining the APR requires up to 90-percent local travel and 10-percent annual out of state travel.
