Responsibilities


The Operations Division is offering a Paid Internship for the position of Operations Division Liaison. This experience will provide you with a career path exploration, diversified work training, and confidence buildup practice. You will have a chance to navigate career path opportunities within the Operations Division, working within 8 departments that report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This experience will provide you invaluable insight into career options within the School District.

What you will gain from this experience: A rotation between the Operations Division Departments - Interns to mirror selected employee for a day - Interns to provide support (as designated by the department) - Learn about the Mission and Vision - Learn how the Mission and Vision Statements are integrated into our daily routine - Meet with Leaders and Managers and review how the process is implemented within the departments

Experience in networking and professional development - Attend an event with the staff - Help organize an event (existing or new)

Eligibility


In order to be eligible for this position you must be:

A) A current Palm Beach County School District High School Junior or Senior.

OR

B) A Palm Beach County School District High School Graduate AND currently enrolled in a Higher Ed institution (College or Technical School student)

Compensation


All Palm Beach County School District interns will be paid $15.00 per hour regardless of which department they will be working in. (See Duration & Work Schedule for additional information)

Duration & Work Schedule


All interns will have the opportunity to work 6 weeks between June 13, 2022 and July 28, 2022.

Each week the student may work up to four days per week and 7 hours per day plus a 30 minute lunch. Total hours per week not to exceed 28 hours.

  • Number of hours that are scheduled to work per week, and
  • Number of days / months that are scheduled to work per year.

General Information

  • Completion of forms related to the employee benefits package; and
  • The School District of Palm Beach County is a drug and alcohol-free workplace. All employment categories are subject to the completion of drug testing pursuant to School Board Policy 3.96 or 3.961. Any applicant who tests positive for a drug as defined in the policies will not be hired. In addition, only certain employment categories are subject to the completion of a pre-employment medical examination by, and the receipt of, a medical clearance from professionals selected by the School Board. The medical examination may consist of a physical examination and/or testing for potentially impairing, disabling, communicable and terminal diseases or conditions including, but not limited to, tuberculosis and other pulmonary diseases, carcinoma, acquired immune deficiency syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, anemia, cardiovascular diseases, muscular skeletal diseases or disorders, hearing and visual impairments, mental or nervous disorders, alcoholism, and drug abuse.
  • Non-Instructional Applicants applying for some clerical positions will be required to take a Keyboarding Test. The applicants for those positions will have to meet the Word per Minute (WPM) requirement for the given position.
