United Health Services is seeking a Social Worker to join Palliative Care in Binghamton, NY. This is a benefits-eligible position.

Social Worker MSW Overview

Under the Administrative Director of Palliative Medicine, with opportunities for clinical supervision from LCSW/LCSW-R staff, this position assists with the cognitive and emotional assimilation of diagnosis, prognosis, physical changes, functional loss, and decision making for patients with chronic, serious or terminal illnesses.

Social Worker MSW Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Palliative Social Workers provide emotional support that often addresses symptoms of anxiety, depression, distress, and anticipatory grief for patients and their loved ones
  • Palliative Social Workers routinely demonstrate skills and knowledge of grief, loss and advance care planning and e/MOLST with patients and staff
  • This role functions as part of both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience

Minimum:

  • Master’s in Social Work (MSW)

Preferred:

  • 3 years post graduate experience

License/Certification

Minimum:

  • NYS Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
