POSITION:

Sr. Instrumentation Designer

LOCATION:

Lake Charles

I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

• Instrumentation Design Lead for industrial projects

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilize design experience along with minimal guidance from Instrument engineers or specialists for the production of instrument design deliverables such as instrument plans, control room plans, rack room plans, junction box/marshaling cabinet layouts, junction box/marshaling cabinet wiring diagrams, and loop sheets
• Generate man-hour estimates for instrumentation design associated with FEL1, FEL2, FEL3 and Detail Design projects.
• Perform field work and data gathering with no supervision
• Perform as the Instrument Design Lead for projects and can produce the majority of deliverables for the discipline as well as a written scope of work
• Coordinate with other disciplines and assist lead engineer and/or designer to ensure an effective quality product within schedule and budget
• Delegate work to Junior Designers and Drafters as required for project support
• Generate complete bulk material take-offs for ordering all instrument materials necessary for complete construction
• Support development of Junior Designers

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in instrumentation drafting and design in the Petrochemical industry sector
• 2-year degree in Computer drafting/design from a technical institution preferred
• Proficient in using Autocad, MS Excel, MS Word
• Familiar with 3D AutoCad and Navisworks software
• Familiar with required installation detail drawings for most industrial instruments
• Familiar with design for PLC and DCS control systems
• Familiar with design for RS-232, RS-485 modbus, and IP/TCP ethernet communications systems
• Able to lift 40 pounds
• Available for short-term travel (including international)

IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:

• Reports to I&E Design Lead and I&E Engineering Department Manager

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,382.64 - $135,752.54 per year
