Key Areas of Responsibility

The key areas of responsibility the Senior Applications Developer is responsible for include:

  • Develop application source code individually and as part of the development team to replace manual business processes working with a range of automation technologies, i.e., robotic process automation, to improve business performance using the SymKey application
  • Analysis and code development for HealthCare Information Management (HCIM) software products
  • Analysis and code development on custom client-requested application(s) and/or data conversion projects
  • Becoming proficient in healthcare terminology, particularly regarding core claims transactions systems
  • Learning the functionality of core claims systems related to how HCIM software products interact with them
  • Thoroughly learn HCIM products, to provide 2nd level support to clients and to HCIM Product Delivery and Support colleagues
  • Continually develop technical development skills through HCIM projects and through continuing self-education
  • Leadership responsibilities may also include assisting the department manager, mentoring to other colleagues, and assisting in team direction and work assignments

Job Function

The Senior Applications Developer typical job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work independently and collaboratively to define, design, develop, and maintain moderately complex solutions that meet business needs
  • Developing new and enhancing existing Visual Basic scripting/automation utilities to automate (script) processes in HCIM SymKey and Kwik Actions applications
  • Participating in C# development projects with other development team members, assisting in the development and maintenance of various HCIM software products
  • Utilizing code versioning software for storing and retrieving HCIM software source code
  • Create and maintain solution documentation and share progress and issues with peers and business partners
  • Support solutions in production, analyzing system problems/alternatives and recommending and acting on ways to improve system effectiveness and efficiency
  • Encourage and follow best practices with corporate technology platforms and assist in researching and evaluating new technology. Drive continuous improvement in company performance by creatively leveraging analytics and technology
  • Testing application code developed by themself or by other HCIM developers. Abiding by HCIM testing standards in the process of unit testing HCIM product and client applications
  • Working independently and as part of a team to develop, test, debug, and support HCIM application products and various client custom applications. This includes working with the Product Delivery and Support business unit in supporting QA Testing efforts
  • Providing 2nd level phone support services for various HCIM clients, when required

Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 8 years of related and proven work experience in programming
  • Extensive hands-on working experience in C# (.NET Core, .NET Framework, and NuGet)
  • Solid working experience and understanding of software engineering tools and workflows (Git, Git Lab, CICD, Visual Studio)
  • In depth working knowledge of SQL databases
  • Hands-on experience authoring and consuming web-services/APIs
  • Strong working applied knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience in automation/scripting development
  • Relevant and practical managed care/claims core transaction system development and programming experience highly desirable
  • Experience with source code versioning software
  • Knowledge of multi-threading applications
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office products
  • A keen interest in and ability to evaluate processes and implement improvements

Work Environment

The Senior Applications Developer will perform the above duties from their home-based office, in cooperation with other HCIM colleagues who shall be located elsewhere. Travel for occasional face-to-face work sessions with other colleagues and/or HCIM clients may be necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $77,300.00 - $115,900.00 per year
