The Role:
Educational Alliance's comprehensive school based programs instill learning in all activities to provide the knowledge and skills students need to excel in school, socially, in life, and to prepare for college and careers.
We are seeking Program Directors to lead our after school programs who will work closely with the site assigned Education Specialist and the Associate Executive Director of Programs. Program Directors are responsible for overall program management and assessment, leadership and mentoring, the development and expansion of programs at their school site.
Core Responsibilities:
· Responsible for effective program planning throughout the school year that results in student retention and engagement, improved social and learning outcomes;
· Developing annual program plans (to include school year and summer where applicable) by engaging in strategic planning to include: session planning, core programming, creating interest based courses selections for students, performances and culminating events, collaboration with day school objectives and initiatives, and field trips aligned with program objectives;
· During hours of 10am to 2pm attend to all required logistical requirements to ensure effective planning (scheduling field trips, building relationships with external partners and organizations to facilitate programming, meeting with group leaders for feedback and mentoring, engaging in professional development, etc.);
· During hours of 2pm to 6pm oversee after school program operations, conducting observations and walkthroughs, contacting parents, and providing feedback, support, and training to group leaders and activity specialists to ensure high quality and effective facilitation in all activities across the program;
· Implement program in alignment with Educational Alliance program design, monitor and report budget, and ensure program aligns with day school leadership objectives;
· Recruit, hire, and train effective program staff, capable of managing student behaviors, leading and delivering lesson plans with fidelity so that lesson plan objectives are understood and received by students, ensure that staff are developing high quality lesson plans, and comprehensive after-school programming.
· Partner with CSYD leadership and site program coordinator to build and implement best-in-class systems, processes, procedures, and tools to support site level operations;
· Conduct performance reviews, trainings, and evaluations for program staff.
· Responsible for maintaining student participation and engagement throughout the year via recruitment and retention activities, including incorporating student voice and choice strategies;
· Support the work of the site program coordinator to ensure that student and staff records and attendance are maintained and that hard and digital copies are filed and stored;
· Assist in planning and facilitating fundraising events as directed by the Executive Director;
· Establish relationships with outside organizations to schedule events and facilitate activities aligned with program objectives and goals;
· Provide support for organizational operations including compliance, staff hours and payroll, documenting feedback and staff performance, reconciling spending, tracking and itemizing inventory;
· Document program activities via video, photos, student success stories, student and parent blurbs, and quotes from partner organizations;
· Serve as a liaison with school personnel, families, and community organizations to develop comprehensive programming and to maintain positive public and working relations of program with families and community partners;
· Meets all obligations as outlined in partner agencies expectations;
· Occasional offsite travel for meetings, professional development, trainings, and events;
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
· Minimum 1 year teaching experience (or BA in education or similar field) or equivalent in a school or school environment- required;
· Experience supervising and training staff;
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively;
· Experience liaising and partnering with external organizations and stakeholders;
· Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations in a professional, courteous and friendly manner;
· Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills;
· Aptitude for managing quantitative data from a number of different sources and keeping track of programmatic metrics;
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information;
· Strong commitment to youth development and understanding of issues pertaining to school aged youth;
· Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, expertise in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word;
· Previous experience in: classroom teaching, youth programming or youth camp experience is a PLUS;
· Bilingual is a PLUS.
