As a Product Engineer for Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment located in Liberty, KY, you will be responsible for agricultural equipment design, development, and control.

REPORTS TO: Product Engineering Manager

SHIFT: 1st shift M-F 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

LOCATION: Liberty, KY

EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Including the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific Tarter site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):

  • Ownership of assigned product families through complete product lifecycle including CAD development, prototyping, testing, launching, and maintaining
  • Engineering project management including product benchmarking, product specifications development, and test protocol development/reporting
  • Conducts and or Supervises Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities to reduce product complexity and cost, including trade off analysis
  • Complete resolution of product quality, safety, and compliance concerns
  • Provide general product Engineering guidance and knowledge or evaluations to internal customers including Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service, Service parts, Warranty, Sales, and Marketing
  • Resolution of complex corrective action requests from testing, field, suppliers, and manufacturing teams
  • Other jobs duties as needed

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Knowledge, skills & abilities: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Effective interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required. This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner.   • Ability to lead design activities by optimizing for costs, performance, and quality
  • Proficient with 3D CAD modeling platforms, preferably Creo or SolidWorks
  • Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Business acumen and understanding of product development life cycle
  • Ability to use hand tools and lab equipment such as technical measuring equipment, power tools and pneumatic tools
  • Ability to work in an agricultural environment including operating tractors, heavy equipment, and working around livestock for product development purposes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Creative and passionate about creating solutions to customer problems

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 3 years engineering experience
  • Product development experience helpful
  • Knowledge of agricultural equipment and market preferred

OTHER JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel: This position requires some domestic, and some international travel to suppliers, customers, and trade shows
  • Full-time onsite work schedule
