Background:

The Parents As Teachers (PAT) Program Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and scheduling of the staff assigned to the PAT program. The supervisor is part-time (20 hours/week) and will oversee the implementation of the program components of the PAT model: home visiting, phone connections, and parenting groups.

Responsibilities include supervision of staff implementing the PAT model, completion of various child/family assessment measures and processes to ensure model fidelity and appropriate support for mothers, fathers and children under the age of 5, project evaluation, record-keeping, coordination of services and communication with collateral community service providers, and partnership with a contractual partner and state funder (Office of Early Childhood).

This program serves the Greater Waterbury region.

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides weekly case individual/group supervision of all staff.
  • Provides or oversees scheduling for home visitation staff.
  • Coordinates scheduling and provide ongoing training and educational opportunities for staff.
  • Provides comprehensive orientation for new staff.
  • Oversees the completion of the initial assessment process (receiving referrals, evaluating appropriateness, and providing assessment). Maintains direct oversight of case assessment activity.
  • Prioritization of referrals, establishment, and monitoring waitlist (when applicable).
  • Maintains oversight of case files on all clients (includes but not limited to; initial assessment, treatment plans, client contact log, list of referrals and results, case conference minutes and case closing summaries). Ensures contract compliance with data entry and analysis in data systems (Penelope and ECIS) as well as Wellmore’s Avatar use.
  • Supports staff use of PAT model with families through regular staff meetings, ongoing educational plans, and broad efforts around outreach and networking.
  • Schedules case review meetings with collateral agencies to coordinate services and update treatment goals when necessary.
  • Maintains communication with DCF and collateral service providers regarding case management issues.
  • Provides advocacy function for clients with special needs.
  • Prepares statistics, quarterly reports, and any additional reports as required by the grant.
  • Immediately notifies supervisory staff of situations in which children may be at risk (i.e., physical abuse, sexual abuse, chronic neglect, unsafe home, etc) and/or any other sentinel event.
  • Participates in community, statewide and regional meetings as scheduled for assigned program

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

A Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field is required and at least three years of experience working with at-risk populations, early childhood, and families in crisis. Knowledge of child abuse/neglect reporting practices, early childhood education/development, and parenting support methods preferred. Prior supervisory experience is helpful.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrated leadership abilities and supervisory skills required.

CREDENTIALS/LICENSE REQUIRED:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Department of Public Health license as a mental health provider; LCSW, LPC, LMFT

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

May require early evening home visits to support home visitors’ sessions. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of assigned families. Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) language skills are preferred.

Part-time Hours: flexible 20 hours/week

Hourly rate: $31.25/hr.
