This is a Hybrid position which requires periodic work within our Owatonna, MN facility. The hybrid schedule includes a working schedule where you would alternate between working remotely and in the office. Therefore, candidates must reside within reasonable drivable distance to the facility in Owatonna, MN.

Our team in Owatonna, MN is seeking a Human Resources Operations Manager who will lead and improve the effectiveness of all compensation, payroll, benefit, and compliance activities to provide a great workplace and maintain Team Members as the competitive advantage to ensure Wenger Corporation exceeds or meets annual business objectives.


At a minimum you'll need:

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Administration degree in a business-related field; Human Resource Management degree preferred
  • Five (5) years' experience in a Compensation, Benefits or Compliance Administrative environment
  • Two (2) years' demonstrated success in human resource leadership position
  • Proficiency with varied HRIS systems
  • Proven thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products


It'd be great if you also have:

  • Masters or law degree
  • Manufacturing environment experience
  • Paycom HRIS experience
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-PHR or HRCI certification


As a Human Resources Operations Manager s a typical day might include:

  • Managing compensation programs to ensure the company offers a competitive total compensation package to recruit and retain the right talent to achieve the annual business plan
    • Completing matching of internal positions to market survey, price positions based on size of company and state/national locations, and analyze shifts in the marketplace on a quarterly basis
    • Coordinating the incentive compensation programs including annual review of summary plan descriptions and documentation for appropriate team members
    • Managing the profit-sharing process including the annual calculation and communication process
    • Managing the annual merit increase budget process and complete internal equity analysis
    • Managing the vendor and fiduciary relationships for the 401k plan
    • Developing and implementing annual calendar for team member training related to retirement programs
    • Researching and proposing changes or additions to the total compensation packages
    • Supporting the annual 401k audit
    • Completing reporting and prepare presentations for the Compensation Committee
  • Ensuring Wenger Corporation offers a great benefit package for the health and wellness of all Team Members and ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws
    • Leading the annual benefit renewal negotiation with our benefits broker and find opportunities to ensure the benefits are beneficial to the team members and competitively priced
    • Managing the broker and vendor relationships for our benefit plans
    • Overseeing the annual Wellness Program including the year end point submission and incentive process
    • Researching and proposing changes or additions to the benefit plans
    • Overseeing the annual open enrollment process
    • Developing and implementing annual calendar for team member initiatives to promote health and wellness
  • Preserving the integrity of the HRIS system and managing accurate and timely processing of weekly, bi-weekly, and bi-monthly payrolls to ensure team members are compensated correctly and in compliance with all applicable laws
    • Manager the vendor relationship for our HRIS system
    • Validate the payroll register, complete the audit of final payroll, and approve and send payroll to the payroll company
    • Support the creation and maintenance of corporate metrics within HR and other departments
  • Ensuring effective administration and compliance with all aspects of the leave programs including short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and any state required paid disability or paid FMLA plans
    • Managing the vendor relationship for our leave program
    • Overseeing all leaves of absences in accordance with applicable state and federal laws
    • Coordinating the internal personal leave of absence policy
    • Overseeing the benefits collection process for team members on unpaid leave of absences
  • Coordinating and managing team member surveys - engagement, new hire, exit interviews, and pulse surveys
    • Coordinating the team member surveys including the survey questions, survey platform, and ensure the timeliness of the surveys
    • Overseeing the completion of the Round of Applause program
    • Coordinating the department survey action plans with each leader
    • Providing exit interview feedback to the HR business partners for communication to the department leaders
    • Completing analysis of data and prepare presentations for corporate communications
  • Ensuring Wenger Corporation is in compliance with all applicable laws
    • Researching and provide updates on federal and state employment laws and implement any required changes
    • Overseeing the coordination of the Workers Compensation program including the annual audit
    • Managing the Affirmative Action Program and complete the annual AA plan
    • Overseeing the completion and filing of the annual EEO-1 and Vets-100 forms
    • Managing the completion and filing of the 5500s annually
    • Complete FLSA assessments and the annual audit
    • Maintaining the corporate HR policies including research and implementing any new policies to support a highly engaged work environment
  • Managing the HR record retention program and ensure the records are purged according to corporate policies
  • Implementing opportunities to continuously improve programs and processes
