POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administration and application of Human Resource policies and procedures and managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits, hourly payroll, and manual and computerized personnel records.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE

The Human Resources Generalist reports directly to the Human Resource Director. This position interfaces with all levels of employees and outside recruitment, benefit, insurance, and HRIS vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruiting qualified candidates to fill vacancies and new openings to meet company requirements
  • Conduct onboarding for incoming associates
  • Administrating benefits programs, including benefit orientations for benefits eligible employees and year-end open enrollment changes
  • Oversee maintenance of manual and electronic personnel records
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll adjustments and employee data changes through electronic timekeeping and HRIS
  • Administer Leave of Absence, FMLA, and return-to-work programs
  • Administer Worker’s Compensation program, entering claims, collaborating with adjusters, communicating with associates, providing authorization for treatment, and attending final conferences
  • Ensure legal compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and industry regulations
  • Facilitate the discussion and resolution of employee complaints, performance deficiencies, or work-related matters
  • Representing the company in matters concerning unemployment insurance to include responses to unemployment claims and participation in unemployment hearings
  • Prepare a variety of internal, governmental, insurance, and other reports
  • Support company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics, providing direction for employer and employees
  • Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department
  • Participates in staff meetings, attend seminars relevant to Human Resource growth
  • Conduct offboarding for exiting associates

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Above average ability to work effectively with people in all divisions and levels of the company
  • Strong communication and listening skills, both verbal and written, being tactful and professional
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-driven
  • Detail orientation and highly organized

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of HR experience or related area
  • Working knowledge of payroll and insurance administration and familiarity with labor laws concerning employment procedures, discrimination, and safety
  • Experience working with employees or public
  • HR Certifications, a plus
  • HRIS experience, ADP a plus
  • Valid operating driver’s license

ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties are performed indoors throughout the general office area and occasionally in the production area.
  • Employee must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and other file storage areas.
  • Employee must be able to remain sitting 90% of the time with intermittent refreshment and lunch breaks.
  • Employee will frequently operate a computer or other office equipment, including but not limited to, calculator, copy machine, printer, and/or telephone.
  • Employee will occasionally access other levels of the building.
  • Employee will frequently communicate with others (internal or external) for various human resource needs and must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Employee will occasionally transport to offsite locations.
