Boeing Global Services is currently seeking a highly motivated F-15 Mid-Career Software Engineer and Product Owner to become part of the Training Systems - Battlespace Simulation Management team in Hazelwood , Missouri .
This position will support our F-15 Mission Training Center products for the United States Air Force (USAF). The F-15C MTC program supports F-15C and F-15E trainers around the world and interfaces with numerous other USAF trainers such as F15-EX, F-22, and F-16 MTCs. Develop subsystems for Boeing Flight Trainers such as the Instructor/Operator Station, Brief/Debrief Station, Synthetic Environments, and core building block technologies used for all our flight trainers (graphics, video, networking, mission planning, exercise management & control).
BSM is responsible for the design, development, manufacture, and maintenance of training devices for a wide variety of commercial and military aircraft - everything from F-15 fighter jets to Apache attack helicopters, and even NASA's Starliner spacecraft. Software engineers on our team are responsible for all phases of the software lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation and test. They are also directly involved in planning their own work, as part of the agile methodology, with a focus on technical excellence.
The BSM team is a large software development team comprised of several smaller agile teams, some with specialized skills. Our backlog includes everything from new feature development using ground breaking technology to maintenance of legacy software baselines. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working in an often fast-paced environment within a two-week sprint schedule.
As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for managing the entire product development life-cycle within BSM. Your role includes project management, technical leadership, requirements definition, and translation of requirements into user stories for our agile software teams to implement. Experience in software development is also required as you will be expected to get your hands in the code. Agile development experience is highly beneficial.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the technical roadmap and vision for the product
Serve as a customer’s product focal for the BSM software team, specifically in day-to-day design and implementation decisions
Collaborate with agile teams to build and manage new features and capabilities while delivering the desired business impact
Provide leadership on activities such as prioritization and negotiating with stakeholders on backlog priorities
Work closely with the BSM F-15 Product Manager in defining system level software requirements & features
Work closely with the BSM F-15 software team in decomposing system level features into executable backlog items
Write practical user stories and refine the backlog based on business stakeholder priorities, and incorporate architectural changes recommended by engineering into user stories
Manage product release schedules and release activities
Assure the development team’s products effectively addresses program priorities while maintaining technical integrity and cost and schedule targets
Proactively resolve upstream dependencies and resolve conflict effectively across teams
Advocate, recommend, & champion process improvements
T his position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
3+ years of professional experience in software engineering
Experience with programming C/C++
Experience with software development in an agile environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience as an agile Product Manager, Product Owner or Scrum Master
Project management experience and/or certifications
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications (SP, SSM, SASM, POPM, SPC)
Experience with tools for Continuous Integration/Delivery, Version Control, and Build Automation
Experience with tools such as VersionOne/Jira, Jenkins, Git, CMake, Visual Studio
Familiarity with simulation standards such as Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), Distributed Mission Operations (DMO), High Level Architecture (HLA)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter who works independently to formulate and execute project plans
Experience with aircraft platforms, aviation, simulation, and training systems is beneficial
Education/experience:
Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
Travel:
Occasional travel (10%) may be required in support of the program and customer.

Summary pay range: $104,550 – 141,450
