CAMECA is a world leading supplier of microanalytical and metrology instrumentation for research and process control. Our instruments measure elemental and isotopic composition in materials down to atomic resolution and equip government and university labs as well as high-tech industrial companies around the world.

As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for complex assembly and test operations on optical, electrical, electronic, and electromechanical subs assembles. All assembles will require following protocols for safely working with precision optical and ultra-high vacuum assembly.

Overall Responsibilities: Assemble and test complex scientific instruments.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex assembly and test operations on optical, electrical, electronic, and electromechanical subassemblies.
  • Follow protocols appropriate for precision optical and ultra-high vacuum assembly.
  • Execute calibration and quality control procedures
  • Develop proficiency in operation of the LEAP microscope
  • Maintain records and logs
  • Keep work area neat and clean

Skills and Attributes:

  • Mechanical and electronics assembly skills.
  • Proficient in use of various hand tools (both manual and powered).
  • Good manual dexterity, able to work with complex delicate components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams and to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • High-energy person with positive attitude, self-starter and finisher.
  • Capable of lifting up-to 40 lbs.

Required technical skills:

  • High speed electronics: basic electronics skills including familiarity with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, TDRs, multimeters, function generators, etc.
  • Electrical and electromechanical systems: high voltage power supplies (cabling, HV breakdown, safety, etc), power distribution, uninterruptible power supplies, pneumatic solenoids, motors.
  • Computers: networking, administrative HW and SW tasks, word processing (technical document writing, spreadsheets, database entry, etc.).

Highly desirable technical skills:

  • Vacuum systems: turbomolecular pumps, ion pumps, vacuum gauges, cryopumps, etc., and familiarity with high vacuum practices.
  • Lasers: optical components (photo diodes, mirrors, lenses, beam samplers), relevant tools (beam profilers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, etc.), and safety practices.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates' degree or higher in electronics or related field, military electronics training and/or years of experience may be considered in place of degree
  • 2 – 3 years relevant experience with complex electromechanical or high vacuum systems (e.g., SEM, TEM, semiconductor fab tools, etc.).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
