CDL A Transportation Specialist
The Transportation Specialist is tasked with the safe operation and transportation of equipment and material resources to and from project sites. He/ or she is responsible for maintaining an up to date CDL A and a legal driving record. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing support to our Resource Center operations in the form of minor equipment maintenance, inventory maintenance, shipping and receiving, and may assist at times with grounds keeping.

Key Activities:
- Safe transportation of equipment and material in a manner that enables optimal productivity from our field operations
- Operate independently and communicate to determine critical decisions involving the movement of equipment and materials
- Accurately follows all procedures for documenting the movement of equipment and materials from location to location
- Communicates with team members to coordinate the weekly logistics plan
- Accurately records pre/post trip inspections and logbooks
- Safely operates all equipment and keeps operator certifications up to date
- Responsible for coordinating all maintenance required to keep the truck and trailer in good operational condition
- Works to maintain and improve the equipment and materials at the Resourcing Center
- Assist with general Resource Center operations as needed and as time allows
- Ensures DOT Registration, Insurance, and IFTA documents are up to date and accessible for inspection as needed
- Performs regular maintenance on equipment/fleet vehicles as needed
- Perform cost analysis on transportation purchases
Truck Driver Requirements:
- Valid Class A CDL: clean driving record with no moving violations
- Must pass a background check and drug test
- Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26, 000 Ibs.
- Maintain a Class A CDL driver’s license and medical cards
- 5 years CDL driving & 1-year flatbed work (equipment or material hauling)
- Hydraulic Dovetail or Slide Axle experience required
- Experience operating the following: Forklift, Skid Steer, Utility Vehicle, Tractor, Vibratory Roller, Telehandler, Mini Hoe, wrangler, bobcat, and rattlesnake
- Ability to operate a computer system for accurate record keeping
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred

Work Environment:
- Ability to lift up to 75-80 lbs.
- Physically and mentally fit; including climbing, stopping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pulling, driving and shifting gears
- Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts
- Ability to travel as needed, about 5 overnights a year
- Occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions at job sites
- Frequently exposed to fumes, dust, vibrations and will get “hands dirty”.
