JOB TITLE: Assistant Executive Director

Heartland Independent Living Center was started 20 years ago, in 2002, as a branch of Disabled Citizens Alliance for Independence (DCAI). HILC was allowed the responsibility to serve people with disabilities living in Franklin, Gasconade and Maries counties. Heartland seeks to empower people with disabilities by helping them to live independently with dignity and security. Heartland has grown its programs, services and staff to meet the independent living needs of the communities and it continues to grow.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AS A Assistant Executive Director AT HEARTLAND?

  • You will assist in ensuring the Center adheres to the Independent Living Philosophy and the standards for independent Living set forth under Title VII of the Rehabilitation Act as amended
  • You will facilitate the direction of the agency as given by the Executive Director
  • You will assist in overseeing and monitoring the day to day activities of the staff and the Center.
  • You will ensure coverage is met up front by the scheduling staff.
  • You will make sure all staff are following HILC policies and procedures.
  • You will ensure staff is maintaining the HILC calendar.
  • You will assist in monitoring HILC employee’s monthly attendance records.
  • You will help to track and issue awards and incentives for all staff.
  • You will report to the board and/or staff when the Executive Director is unavailable.
  • You are expected to represent the Center during interactions with other organizations and public or private agencies including interagency projects, professional organizations, and public relations.
  • You must ensure the confidentiality of all information concerning consumers or potential Consumers or Heartland staff.
  • You will enjoy participating in activities and events related to the agency’s outreach and engagement within the teams.
  • You will facilitate and/or attend regular staff meetings and training opportunities.
  • You will assist the Executive Director in other tasks and projects as assigned.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH AND REPORT TO?

You will report directly to the Executive Director. You will work with staff at Heartland, but also consumers and organizations within three counties: Maries, Gasconade, and Franklin County.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in administration, business, public relations, or related field preferred
  • Managerial experience required
  • Experience with policy making preferred
  • Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized and self motivated
  • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks within time constraints
  • Computer skills are a must.

WHERE WILL YOU BE NEEDED?

You will work Monday through Friday at the Owensville, MO location. Some travel may be required.

WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOUR TRAINING EXPERIENCE WILL BE LIKE?

You will work closely with the Executive Director as well as other administrators and team members to first learn the programs, mission, vision, and people of Heartland as well as learning the consumer base.

Then, along with the Executive Director, you will work to create an action plan with priorities and expectations.

WHAT KIND OF SALARY CAN YOU EARN?

You could potentially earn $40,000-50,000 a year.
